Modulus Technologies ("Modulus", "we", "us") builds agentic AI for small and medium businesses, including the Modulus Studio desktop application and this website. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account or sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address so we can identify your account. We do not receive your Google password.

You may also choose to add your date of birth. This is optional, you are never required to provide it, and we use it only to confirm you meet our minimum age and to personalize your experience. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Payment information

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Modulus never sees or stores your full card number. We retain only what we need to manage your plan, such as your plan tier, status, and a Stripe customer reference.

Usage information

To show your credit balance and run the service, we store usage counts associated with your account (for example, credits used in a billing period). Content you process in Modulus Studio is handled to produce your output and is not sold or used to train third-party models.

Support and assistant

If you message us or use the in-site assistant, we receive what you send so we can respond. The assistant is our own; your message is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) only to generate a reply, and is not used to train AI models.

Cookies

We use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. We do not run advertising trackers, and our website analytics use no cookies at all.

Website analytics

We measure how the website is used with our own privacy-first analytics. It uses no cookies and does not track you across other websites. For each page view we record the page visited, the website you arrived from (the domain only, never the full link), any campaign tags in the link, and a rough screen-size bucket. To tell visitors apart without identifying anyone, we turn your IP address and browser into a scrambled code at our edge servers; the raw IP address is never stored, and the code is reset every day so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. We honor the Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals, and skip this measurement entirely when either is on.

How we use your information

• To provide, secure, and improve the website and Modulus Studio.
• To manage your account, subscription, and billing.
• To respond to your messages and provide support.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Modulus, under their own terms:

• Supabase: account, authentication, and database.
• Stripe: payment processing and billing.
• Cloudflare: secure routing and metering for AI requests, and privacy-preserving website analytics.
• OpenAI: audio transcription (Whisper).
• OpenRouter: text generation and embeddings for Modulus Studio and the in-site assistant.
• Netlify: website hosting and contact-form delivery.
• Resend: delivery of marketing emails (only if you opt in).
• GitHub: software updates and license delivery.
• Google: optional "Sign in with Google".

A full, current list with each provider's role and location is on our Sub-processors page. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep each category of information only as long as we need it:

• Account info (name, email, optional date of birth, Stripe customer reference): for as long as your account is open, then deleted within 90 days of account closure.
• Billing and subscription records: up to 7 years after the transaction, because tax and accounting law requires us to keep them.
• Usage counts (credits used per period): up to 24 months, then aggregated or deleted.
• Support messages and assistant conversations: up to 24 months.

You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time, subject to records we are legally required to keep.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights over your personal information: to access it, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither), and limit the use of sensitive information. You will never be treated differently for exercising a right.

How to make a request: email james@modulustech.ai. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (we will tell you if we need one short extension). To protect your data, we verify requests against the email address on your account before acting.

Appeals: if we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. We will respond to the appeal within 45 days and explain our reasoning.

Global Privacy Control: we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request where the law requires it.

If you are in the EU or UK, our legal basis for processing is performing our contract with you (running your account and the Service), complying with law (tax and accounting), and our legitimate interest in securing and improving the Service.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing email, such as product updates and tips, if you ask us to by ticking the box when you create your account. Account and billing emails (things like password resets and receipts) are separate and are always sent, because they are part of running your account. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using it or by emailing us. We do not sell or share your email address.

AI transparency

The "Ask Modulus" helper on this site and the drafts produced by Modulus Studio are generated by artificial intelligence. When you use the in-site assistant you are interacting with an AI system, not a person. Content that Modulus Studio creates is AI-generated; please review it before you publish or rely on it.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you if something goes wrong.

Children

Modulus is intended for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product grows. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
